Home sweet home...

One of Cheltenham's most impressive villas, Brandon House, stands at the corner of Painswick and Grafton Roads. It was built around 1825 for Henry Norwood Trye and its crisply carved stonework repays close attention. Inside, the staircase and rooms retain a distinction worthy of a past when, within the space of ten years, occupants included the Countess of Pontieu, Archbishop Whately of Dublin and Admiral MacKellar. The grounds too, were extensive, stretching to Tryes Road; today they are largely filled in by newer houses.
