to a winner thanks to Target

Cotswold Riding for the Disabled was on to a winner thanks to Target boss Colin Spencer.

Colin, a keen horse-racing fan, set up an amateur tipping service in Gold Cup week for his marketing and PR clients.

He also placed a £10 bet for Cotswold Riding for the Disabled every day of the Festival.

Yesterday (Wednesday April 21) he handed over his £200 winnings to the charity at its Cheltenham Racecourse HQ.

Chief Executive Colin used his cocker spaniel, Winston, to front up his tipping column and called it ‘Winston's Tips, The Dog That Nose!'

Together the Target man and dog scored one winner, six seconds, and two thirds.

"The Target staff thought I'd gone barking mad. Then they realised that if they'd followed Winston's Tips they'd have been quids in," said Colin, who joined the Target PR and Marketing Group in Painswick Road, Cheltenham, in 1994.

Manager of Cotswold RDA, Mo Begg, thanked Target for their generosity. "It is wonderful to have the support of a major company in Cheltenham for our charity. It means a lot to the 200 riders who come here and to our fantastic volunteers," she said.

The RDA is run almost entirely by volunteers. It has 10 horses and needs £70,000pa to keep going. Its riders are all physically disabled or have learning difficulties.
