Breakfast treat with a fundraising flavour

Fundraising has always been important to us at Target and we try to think of interesting ways we can do it. One such example is our bacon roll run which has proven so popular we decided to #bringhomethebacon for the third time, raising more than £850 for WellChild in the process.

More than 250 workers in Cheltenham enjoyed a bacon or vegetarian breakfast roll delivered to their workplace. We took orders from clients, suppliers and friends of the business who were Cheltenham based and with the help of other local businesses, made and delivered 266 bacon or vegetarian sausage sandwiches.

The production line was based at Moran’s Eating House on Bath Road who kindly baked all the rolls and cooked the bacon and sausages. All other supplies were donated with the generous support of Creed Foodservice, Bath Road Butchers, VW Lane Butchers, Tivoli Butchers, Dominoes, Sainsbury’s, Co-op and Morrisons stores.

The event was our second fundraiser of the year for Cheltenham-headquartered WellChild, the national charity for sick children. It follows on from a Golf Day held in June and brings the total raised to £5,300.

“We started supporting WellChild last year as part of our 40th anniversary celebrations and it was such a success we decided to continue the relationship into 2018,” said Target’s Chief Executive, Sarah Bryars. “The bacon roll run has also proved hugely successful in the past and goes down very well with the businesses we deliver to, so we thought we’d do it again.

“This year surpassed our expectations and we were thrilled to raise £865, which wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of the businesses that donated everything we needed to make the rolls, as well as their time. The money we’ve raised will enable five families to attend a specialist clinic at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, providing medical expertise and advice to children with Wolfram Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder.”

WellChild Chief Executive, Colin Dyer, said: “We are very grateful for the creative and energetic support we have received from everyone at Target and we would like to thank them very much for their efforts. Without the fantastic support we receive from companies and the public we would not be able to do the vital work we do with seriously ill children and their families across the UK.”
