To kick off our 40th anniversary charity partnership with WellChild, we thought we’d give businesses in Cheltenham the chance to start their day with a delicious bacon roll. It meant an early start as we had orders for more than 220 rolls – all to be delivered before 10am.
But that was fine – it was for charity after all – and with the help of Moran’s on Bath Road who baked the rolls and let us use their kitchen and restaurant, we did it. Delivering to more than 25 businesses with all rolls made to order, personalised labels and red or brown sauce as required, we raised more than £600 in total.
We couldn’t have done it without the generous support provided by Creed Foodservice, Bath Road Butchers, VW Lane Butchers and the Sainsbury’s and Co-op stores on Bath Road, so this felt like a real community-focused initiative. It was a great way to kick off the charity partnership, and throughout the year we will be organising various other fundraising events so keep your eyes peeled for more information.
We received some really nice feedback from WellChild as well, who told us that the money raised so far could fund a week’s research supporting children with cerebral palsy. Having a clear idea of what it actually means in real terms is a great encouragement for our future efforts.
