We’ve had cause for celebration recently following the promotion of our apprentice, Amy Townend (19), after she passed her apprenticeship with flying colours.

Target first welcomed Amy as a PR and Communications Apprentice in September 2021. Over the course of 15 months, she gained practical industry experience while studying one day a week at Cirencester College in preparation for an end-point assessment (EPA).

“When I first joined the team at Target, I had no experience in PR at all but there were so many learning opportunities to take advantage of which really helped to broaden my knowledge and build my confidence,” Amy says.

“As part of my EPA, I planned and executed a campaign for a client, which was challenging but a great experience. The team were really supportive too, and helped whenever I had a question or was unsure about something. I also needed to produce a written report and give a presentation about my campaign, alongside sitting a knowledge test, so it was hard work but definitely worth it!”

After achieving a double distinction in her assessments, Amy has now been promoted to Account Executive.

Target’s Chief Executive, Sarah Bryars, says: “It’s been fantastic to see Amy progress over the past year. The whole team has watched her grow in confidence, and her EPA results were testament to her skill and hard work. As an employer, we feel it’s important to support those looking to start a career in PR and we’ve been hugely impressed with Amy’s work ethic and contribution to the team. We’re thrilled that she’s staying on with us.”

“I really enjoyed my time as an apprentice so I’m excited to be taking the next step in my career at Target,” says Amy. “I love that every day brings new challenges and opportunities, and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in to my new role!”
